A new Board of Directors was recently elected for the Downtown Kelowna Association 2010-2012 terms of office.
Two incumbent members of the board have been re-elected. Rob Collins from Grant Thornton, and Brent Lobson from Impark, will be returning to the board.
There were many new members elected to the board, including Perry Freeman, of Colliers International, Dallas Gray from K96.3, Bernie Wilson from Bordello's Trevor Neill, and Jenny Rutherford from Tourism Kelowna.
The members for the Board of Directors are selected by fellow members, and although they the selected to the board have a serious job to accomplish, there is a lighter side to the position as well.
Members of the board are asked to play an integral part in the planning and zoning of downtown Kelowna. Their responsibilities range from weighing in on pending nightclub applications to matters relating to the public square parking accommodations.
The Board of Directors is selected from the most active and successful business people in Kelowna, who have a knowledge and expertise of the city. Also, many times, the expertise of the board is sought by fellow members who need a second opinion about a new project or business endeavor.
